PANTHER SOCCER TO PARTICIPATE IN NATIONWIDE PRIDE EVENT
Panther fans will notice a colorful addition to the soccer field next week.
Both Panther teams and game day staff will don rainbow laces as part of Play With Pride Week, a nationwide initiative from United Soccer Coaches to celebrate the contributions of LGBT players, coaches, support staff, referees and fans to the game of soccer.
“Soccer is an amazingly diverse sport,” said Jeff Klein, Interim Athletic Director. “In all of our sports, we play with and against people of so many various backgrounds. Sexual orientation and gender identity is one more part of that diversity. We are proud to honor that when we lace up and take the field.”
The Panthers host three home games during #PlayWithPride Week: Tuesday against nationally ranked Santa Barbara and Friday against Barstow (women only).
