Welcome from the Director of Kinesiology & Athletics
Welcome to the Chaffey family and a new year of Panther Athletics!
In July 2019, Dr. Timi Brown was named the Director of Kinesiology & Athletics at Chaffey College. As the Athletic Director, Dr. Brown oversees 14 intercollegiate athletic sports, and over 300 student-athletes competing in three separate conferences: the North Central Conference of the Southern California Football Association, the Inland Empire Athletic Conference, and the South Coast Conference. Dr. Brown oversees the hiring and training of coaches, athletic trainers, and other department personnel, while also supervising coaching and student-athlete support staff. During her tenure as Director of Kinesiology and Athletics at Chaffey College she has overseen many “wins” throughout the department. Dr. Brown was instrumental in re-building the partnership with the Chaffey College Foundation & has helped Athletics raise money from the annual Foundation/Athletics Golf Tournament. Furthermore, she has created multiple sponsorships with local vendors including Chic Fil A, Pizza Hut, Jimmy Johns, and Barboni’s pizzeria to supply student-athletes with game day meals, while also doubling the amount of meal money Chaffey student-athletes can receive to pay for their meals on the road. Additionally, Dr. Brown has collaborated with many internal and external constituents to improve the development of physical structures on campus, including the Aquatics Complex, Softball Stadium and Lowder Field. She has also worked with campus Information Technology & Facilities to upgrade infrastructure at athletic venues to support live streaming of all athletic contests & events at the Soccer Field & in the Sports Center. Finally, Dr. Brown has brought Arbiter Pay, HomeTown Ticketing and E-Team Sponsor to the Athletic Department; ultimately increasing efficiency of internal processes. In addition to serving as the Director of Kinesiology & Athletics, Dr. Brown serves on the Inland Empire Executive Officer’s team, the IEAC’s Gender Equity Committee, IEAC’s sport rep for Softball, and was selected to the CCCAA Management Council as the Southern California Women’s Basketball representative. Dr. Brown is a member of the National Athletic Director’s Association and most recently was one of eight Athletic Directors throughout the country to receive the CBIZ Borden Perlman Sports Convention Grant.
Athletics is rich in athletic and academic tradition winning multiple conference championships, averaging over 100 scholar-athletes each year, as well as many players and coaches recognized for player & coach of the year. Athletic tradition at Chaffey College began as far back as 1890 when our own football program beat USC 32-6 to win the first Southern California football title. Since that time numerous teams of student-athletes have become champions. Chaffey College Athletics is committed to the pursuit of competitive excellence while ensuring our number one focus is to provide an overall student-athlete experience that is second to none. We want our athletic program to represent the very best of California Community College Athletics throughout all phases of our program. Competing as a Chaffey Panther is an honor and all student-athletes should embrace the responsibility of being a scholar and competitor. No matter what your goal: Associates Degree, transfer education, certificate for gainful employment or continuing your athletic career, Chaffey College provides you with a platform to be successful. Without a doubt, our coaches, counselors, faculty, administrators and support staff are some of the best around in their shared commitment to improving our diverse students’ lives through education in a supportive and engaging environment. These combined efforts of our partners and student-athletes have created a strong sense of community and pride within our athletic family.
We wish all our student-athletes nothing but the best in your pursuit of excellence. Play hard, study hard, do what is right, don’t make excuses and enjoy the rewards as we achieve our collective goals.
