TWO NEW ATHLETIC TRAINERS AT CHAFFEY COLLEGE
Chaffey College welcomes two new athletic trainers for the 2019 season.
Nate Akin joined the Chaffey College athletic training staff fall 2019. Nate was born and raised on a cattle ranch outside of Sacramento, CA. He received his undergraduate degree in History from the Master’s University in 2012 and coached overseas in China for a year. He then attended California Baptist University, where he received his Master of Science in Athletic Training in 2017. He completed clinical rotations in a variety of settings, including University of California at Riverside, Riverside City College, and California Baptist University. He became an athletic trainer at the Master’s University, where he was also the student-athlete insurance coordinator and adjunct faculty of Kinesiology.
Nate is certified as an athletic trainer through the NATA Board of Certification. He also holds the ImPACT-Trained Athletic Trainer (ITAT) certification as well as the NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) credential. Nate's areas of professional interest are in neurodynamics, blood flow restriction training, and concussion assessment and management. His passions include hiking, running, and learning new activities, and he thoroughly enjoys seeing new places. He lives in Riverside with his wife and daughter.
Brashit Tarmani joined Chaffey College as an Athletic Trainer in summer 2019. Brashit was raised in Central California where he attended California State University, Stanislaus and received his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Health and Wellness Promotion. He then moved to Southern California to attend California Baptist University where he received his Master of Science in Athletic Training in 2017. During his time at CBU he researched the effectiveness of the Mulligan Mobilization with Movement concept in treating shoulder impingement. Brashit joined the Los Angeles Chargers sports medicine staff in summer of 2017 as a summer training camp intern and spent the 2018/2019 season with the LA Chargers as a seasonal athletic trainer.
Brashit is certified as an athletic trainer through the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification. He is certified in Rocktape FMT and Tecnica Gavilan IASTM. Some of his areas of professional interest are blood flow restriction training, active release technique, cupping therapy and the Mulligan technique. Some of his hobbies include fishing, hiking and going to the beach. He lives in Huntington Beach with his wife.
