ANOTHER BIG WIN FOR MEN'S BASKETBALL
The men were on fire during the second half of play tonight, outpacing the visiting San Bernardino Valley Wolverines and holding them to a mere 17 points after the break. In the first half of play, the Panthers trailed by 10 - with six minutes remaining, the tides suddenly turned and the CHP closed the gap to five at the buzzer thanks to a series of three 3-pointers by Donyae Molett and Nikola Ivkovic. Ivkovic led the Panthers iin scoring with 14 points, including four 3s (season/career high). State leading rebounder Manu (Kehasson) Oulai added a season high 19 to his growing tally, and inproving his season average to 12.6.
"We had a defensive strategy and we made it happen," said Head Coach Jeff Klein. "We came out in the second half, played aggressively and held them to 17. It was a great game."
The men continue conference play at Copper Mountain Saturday afternoon and return to the Sports Center January 8th to take on Cerro Coso (6pm).
