"It was a fairly even match but unfortunately we didn't create many opportunities and the opponent was able to capitalize on a few mistakes," recounted Head Coach Grace Cooper after Friday's IEAC loss at San Bernardino Valley. The Panthers fell 2-0 to their longtime rivals to the east. SBVC is the only other ranked team in the conference and the win places them one game in front of the Panthers on the quest for the first IEAC championship.
Going into the break, the teams were unsurprisingly tied 0-0 with neither team able to get past the other's defensive wall. In the 2nd period of play, the Wolverines managed two shots that got past Kelise Doll. Doll had three saves at the net.
"It's always challenging playing Valley at their place; we look forward to playing them at home next round (11/5)." The Panthers will regroup this weekend and return to Panther Field Tuesday to take on Cerro Coso.
