Bio

Coach Laura Kocsis enters her second year as Chaffey’s Head Women’s Water Polo Coach. Using her international playing background and NCAA coaching experience, she is looking to bring the Panther Women’s Water Polo program to the next level.

Coach Kocsis grew up playing water polo in Budapest, Hungary where she was member of the country’s most successful program, club UVSE. With her team, she won 1st place at the Hungarian U19 National Championship 3x (’09, ’10, ’11), 1st place at the Hungarian U17 National Championship 2x (’08, ’09) and finished 4th in the Hungarian Women’s D1 Championship 2x (’09, ’10). As a member of the Hungarian National Team, she placed 2nd at the 20U World Championships in 2011 in Trieste, Italy and finished 2nd at the World University Games (Universiade) in 2013, in Kazan, Russia. During her time as a NCAA collegiate water polo player at California Baptist University, she was a 3x NCAA All-American, 2x All Conference 1st Teamer, 3x Academic All-American and was awarded Rookie of the Year, Team MVP, Offensive Player of the Year and Lancer of the Year titles.

After finishing her undergraduate degree in Journalism and Media, she went on to complete her Master’s degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sports Management. Since graduating from college, Coach Kocsis has been the assistant coach for both men’s and women’s water polo teams at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, she holds the position of Head Coach for the USA Water Polo Olympic Development Program Coastal Zone Cadet Girls team and she is currently the Head Coach for the 18U girls team at Foothill Club Water Polo.
