Bio

Coach Calderon is entering his 2nd season on the Chaffey College coaching staff and 8th season as a football coach.

 

As a player, Coach Calderon played 4 seasons at South Hills high School (West Covina). During his career, Coach Calderon was part of 3 league titles and went to 3 C.I.F finals with 2 championships. During his senior campaign, coach Calderon was an All-League, All C.I.F, All San Gabriel Valley, and All Southern Section selection at O-Line and D-line. After high school, Coach Calderon continued playing football at California Lutheran University from 2005-2008. During his senior season he led the nation in sacks during the regular season with 12 and became the first non-kicking specialist in CLU history to receive AFCA All-American First Team honors when he collected the award in 2008 along with a spot on the Associated Press Little All-America First Team (combined players of D2, D3, NAIA). That same season he earned D3football.com All-American Honorable Mention and was selected as the SCIAC Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the second Kingsman to claim the award. In his career he was a three-time all-conference selection, named to the California Lutheran All Decade team (2000-2009), and graduated with a degree in business marketing. In 2011, Coach Calderon continued to play football in the Indoor football League (IFL) for the Wyoming Cavalry as a defensive end and Linebacker. At the start of the 2012 season Coach Calderon suffered an injury that would force him to end his football career and begin his coaching career.

From 2012 to 2016 Coach Calderon coached Linebackers, Defensive line, and special teams at the varsity level for his alma mater South Hills High School (West Covina). In 2017, Coach Calderon was named the varsity defensive coordinator for El Monte High School. Coach Calderon is now in his 2nd season with Chaffey College and continues to take full advantage working with men of great character and athleticism.

Coach Calderon resides in Diamond Bar, California with his wife Angela and son Troy. Coach Calderon earned a bachelors in Business Administration (2009) with a minor in marketing from California Lutheran University, a teaching credential in physical education, as well as, a masters in physical education from Azusa Pacific University. Outside of coaching, Coach Calderon also teaches physical education and is an assistant wrestling coach at El Monte high school.
