PANTHERS CLAIM ANOTHER WIN TO REMAIN UNDEFEATED IN IEAC
The men continued their roll through the Inland Empire Athletic Conference race last night defeating Cerro Coso 85-64. This was the Panthers' thirteenth consecutive win and 19th this season.
In what began as a close battle, the teams went back and forth well into the 2nd period of play - entering the break separated by only 5 points (37-32). In the 2nd half, Chaffey opened with 2 shots beginning the breakaway lead that hit a high of 26 points and ending the game 85-64.
"I'm impressed that the guys get the ball to the man with the hottest hands," said Head Coach Klein. "Last night, that was Niko (Ivkovic). He had his best game this season."
Klein continued, "They clamped down defensively and rebounded extremely well. They're doing what they need to do."
Saturday, the Panthers look to clinch the first IEAC championship at Mt San Jacinto. The Eagles are currently in 2nd place in the conference and a win against the Panthers would help secure them a playoff berth. "We're playing one of our toughest rivals on THEIR home court," said Klein. "They'd like nothing better than to break our streak. We'll need to earn it."
