Chaffey Secure Shutout Win Over the Wolverines
The Chaffey College men's soccer team earned a road win on Tuesday afternoon, defeating San Bernardino Valley College 1–0 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play. The Panthers maintained composure in a tightly contested match, using disciplined defending and timely goalkeeping to secure the shutout victory.
Both teams traded early chances in the first half, with Diego Garcia and Alberto Gomez each forcing saves from the Wolverines while Goalkeeper Christian Hernandez made several stops to keep the match scoreless. Chaffey broke through just before halftime when Luis DeAnda converted a penalty kick in stoppage time to give the Panthers a 1–0 lead.
The second half featured relentless pressure from the Wolverines, who outshot Chaffey 11–3 over the final 45 minutes. Hernandez stayed calm and collected under pressure, recording seven saves to preserve the clean sheet and secure his third shutout of the season. Defenders Aiden Cardenas, Ryan Pruitt, and Alesandros Sanchez provided key clearances and organization to withstand multiple set-piece threats late in the match.
DeAnda's first-half finish proved decisive as Chaffey improved 5-2-1 in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference. The Panthers' disciplined performance marked their third shutout victory in the last five matches, highlighting the team's continued defensive growth entering the final stretch of the regular season.
Chaffey will return home on Friday, Nov. 7, to host College of the Desert. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
