Bio

Coach Cooper just completed his 15th season at Chaffey College. In the 2019 season, Cooper took the Panthers to the playoffs again, earning the highest seed from the IEAC playoff teams, placing six players on the All-Conference team. In 2018, competing out of the South Coast Conference, Chaffey again made State Playoffs, representing what many feel is the toughest conference in the state. Chaffey finished their 2017 regular season campaign with a great win at Mt Sac and a 2nd place finish in league. In 2015, the Panthers won Back-to-Back Foothill Conference Championships and made a nice run in the CCCAA Regional Playoffs as the South’s #1 seed. The Panthers won four of the last six Foothill Conference Championships, but continue to work towards a State Final Four and California State Championship.

While at Chaffey, Cooper has coached four NSCAA Junior College All-Americans, Tyler Mitchell (Cal Baptist University), Bryan Guzman, Pete Fregoso (Cal State San Marcos) and Jesus Meza, among other All-American nominees. He has also had the privilege of coaching five Foothill Conference MVPs (Jesus Meza - Riverside Poly HS, Ernesto Ramos - Rialto HS, Danny 'Chucky' Nunez - Ontario HS, Erik Zamudio - Rancho Cucamonga HS and Bryan Guzman - Eisenhower HS/Galaxy Academy). Chaffey College also has a lot of pride in transferring student athletes to 4-year universities. Coach Coop has earned three Coach of the Year awards during his tenure with the Panthers (2010, 2012, 2014) and was a 2015 nominee for South Region COY. Through hard work and untiring recruitment, Ben looks to build the perfect team of motivated student athletes.

Ben graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Cal State San Bernardino and went on to earn his Master of Science degree in Kinesiology from Cal State Fullerton in 2004.
