Bio

Coach Burnett (Coach B) enters her seventh season as a head coach at Chaffey College.  She is looking forward to rebuilding this program and bringing the first conference championship to Panther Women’s Basketball in over 20 years.

Prior to Chaffey College, Coach B spent three years as an assistant at CSU Bakersfield.  Before that, she was a long-time assistant under her mentor and college coach, Paul Thomas.  She worked for Coach Thomas for five years at St. Mary’s College and four years at Cal Poly Pomona.  She played for Coach Thomas from 1999 to 2001, winning the first of two back-to-back Division II National Championships for the college her senior year.

In addition to being a national champion, Coach Burnett won a California Community College State Championship in 1994 while at Los Angeles Harbor College.  Under the tutelage of Coach Louie Nelson, Burnett earned state and conference player of the year, Kodak All-American and was among the state’s top scorers, rebounders and point guards.

Tasha Burnett began playing basketball at Lynwood High School under the direction of Coach Maurice Roberson.  She was also a stand-out track and field athlete, competing nationally as a heptathlete – placing second in the state triple jump and having the longest jump in the nation that year at 40’11.75.  She participated in junior nationals as well.  Coach B also earned varsity letters and started on the school’s softball and volleyball teams.

Coach B now resides in Fontana with her twin daughters, Makai and Maika, and her grandmother (Ms. Mildred Myers) who moved here to help Coach Burnett with the girls.
