Bio

Brianna Gonzales-Harwell was named as head coach of the Chaffey College women’s volleyball program in June 2017. Gonzales-Harwell joins the Panthers having coached at various collegiate and club levels, most recently spending two years as the women’s volleyball assistant coach at Cal Poly Pomona University.

In 2015, the Broncos advanced to the California Collegiate Athletic Association's (CCAA) first-ever Championship Tournament, and the team went 17-13 overall on the season, complete with a 12-8 mark in conference play. During her tenure at CPP, Gonzales-Harwell coached six CCAA All-Conference selections, including Nico Stork “Setter of the Year” and Kristen Hamlin “Freshman of the Year”, in addition to 9 CCAA All-Academic team selections.

Prior to Cal Poly Pomona, Gonzales-Harwell was the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Whittier College. During her time at Whittier, the program rose to new heights. In 2014, the Poets bested Chapman University for the first time in program history. During that same campaign, Rebecca Slattery was a SCIAC All-Conference Selection and five selections were named to the SCIAC All-Academic team. In 2013, the Poets won the Worthington Classic Tournament Championship in Washington D.C.

From 2005 through 2008, Gonzales-Harwell played for Coach Don Flora at the University of La Verne in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC). The Leopards won four-consecutive SCIAC Championships, two NCAA West Region Championships, a 2005 NCAA Final Four Appearance, and in 2008 the team finished second-place nationally. She was named the team captain in both 2007 and 2008.

She was a two-time AVCA All-American First Team selection, two-time SCIAC Player of the Year, a two-time All-SCIAC Performer, and a two-time All-West Region selection. In 2008, she was named the NCAA West Regional Most Outstanding Player and was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team. 

In 2009, she was named the National Strength & Conditioning Association All-American Athlete of the Year. As it currently stands, she is third in La Verne's record books in career kills, fourth in career digs, and third in career sets played.  
Gonzales graduated from the University of La Verne in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Educational Counseling.
