Panther Men's Soccer officially opened the 2022 fall season on the road Friday, suffering a 2-0 loss to the Vikings. "It was nice to finally start the season," commented Head Men's Soccer Coach Chris Araya. Araya starts his first season at the helm of the program after playing for and assisting retired coach Ben Cooper.
"Our team is really young and mainly consists of freshmen. So as usual, our guys started off a bit nervous and our opponent applied a lot of pressure at the beginning of the game which led to their two early goals."
"Little by little our guys started to settle in and play our game. We played a really good second half and created a few good goal scoring opportunities but unfortunately couldn't make them count. We will look to improve moving forward."
Freshman goalkeeper Jonathan Zepeda defended the net for the complete game earning four saves.
The Panthers take on Antelope Valley next.
