PANTHER SOFTBALL KEEPS IT GOING WITH ANOTHER IEAC WIN
Panther Softball stays solidly in the top spot in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference race with Wednesday's 8-3 win over Mt San Jacinto.
Field conditions after Tuesday's rain left the field a bit soft Wednesday allowing the Eagles to get two early runs in but that did not deter the Panthers. The first inning brought two for Chaffey as well, followed by two more in the 3rd and three in the 4th. Up 8-2 in the 7th inning, MSJC managed a solo to give them their final run of the game.
Marissa Marquez lit up Panther Field with three RBIs, three hits (including a homer) and a four runs. This was Marquez' first homerun of the season. "Marissa has been slowly working her way back on the offensive side," commented Head Coach Jerry Tivey. "Today really showed her progress with a single, double and homerun."
Violet Salazar pitched the complete game going up against 33 batters with only 10 hits and two walks. "Violet pitched a strong game after giving up two first-inning runs to pick up her 10th win of the season."
"This was an important game for us to win as we maintain our two-game lead in conference."
Next up for the Panthers is a double header today at Cerro Coso.
