Panther Women's Soccer returned to the CCCAA playoffs, entering the regional competiton as the #8 seed. The Panthers hosted #9 Antelope Valley Saturday in an attempt to avenge an early season Marauder shutout win. The stronger more mature Chaffey squad, fresh off an undefeated conference run, delivered a 2-0 wallop to AVC, advancing the Panthers to round 2 of the state playoffs.
At the half, the teams were scoreless but after the break Kaylen Gonzalez delivered followed moments later by a shot into the net by Kayla Bergin (assist Chloe Bonilla) to seal the win for Chaffey.
Sophomore goalkeeper Savannah Ornelas kept the Maruaders scoreless in the complete 90 minutes with four saves.
The Panthers will travel to Rio Hondo Tuesday to again face off againt the Roadrunner - this time with a playoff berth at stake.
