February Panther of the Month: Tristen Wren

February 2025	Tristen Wren Softball Sophomore	In January, Wren carried a .413 batting average, lead the team with 20 RBIs, 16 runs scored, and a .667 slugging percentage. In addition to maintaining a solid .953 fielding percentage, she also contributed 10 extra-base hits, along with 9 stolen bases (second on the team). Head coach Jerry Tivey mentions that Tristen is the vocal leader of the team who always works hard, is focused, and has plans on moving to a Division I program soon.
February 2024	Jada Cuellar Women's Basketball freshman	Athletics staff members have selected basketball student-athletes Jada Cuellar and Uriyah Rojas as the February Panthers of the Month. Cuellar (freshman, Rancho Cucamonga) capped off the Women’s Basketball season on a high note. She averaged 9 points on 57% shooting, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals vs two of the top 8 ranked teams in the state (#5 MSJC and #8 Victor Valley). Jada was selected as 2nd Team All-Conference separating herself among a very strong pool of heavily Sophomore guards.
January 2024	Fatimah Sani Women's Basketball freshman	Fatimah Sani comes to Chaffey from Dubai, UAE. In her first season of collegiate play, Sani is averaging 10.4 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game. She shoots just over 43% from the floor and set the pace for the Panthers in their first month of conference play.
December 2023	Breonna Martinez Women's Basketball sophomore	Breonna Martinez continued her strong play in the month of December leading the Panther Women’s Basketball team at 17 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals per game. The team captain currently sits at 5^th place in the IEAC in total points scored and 4^th in points per game in spite of having to sit out of three games due to injury. She scored a career high 31 points in a win on December 9 vs ranked host Allan Hancock.
November 2023	Sydney Cotter Women's Soccer sophomore	Sydney Cotter scored the game winning goal against Santa Barbara that propelled the Panthers into the state final four championship bracket. She had 13 goals on the season including scoring in 4:5 playoff games. Cotter is a two-time IEAC 1st team All-Conference honoree and was recently named a United Soccer Coaches All-American.
October 2023	Andrea Baerenwald Women's Cross Country sophomore	Andrea Baerenwald had TWO top-10 individual finishes this month: 1) 9th place at Chaffey College Invite. 2) 4th place at IEAC Championships (All Conference 1st team!). Our top female runner all season long, leading our team to a Southern California Championships qualifier.
September 2023	Elisabeth Ramirez Water Polo freshman	Elisabeth Ramirez (Water Polo, FR) In the first 10 games of the season, Ramirez has scored 38 goals and 10 assists. She has also served as goalkeeper in 6 games.
10/1/22	Clarissa Banuelos Water Polo sophomore	Clarissa Banuelos (Water Polo, SO) - Clarissa Banuelos leads the Panthers in scoring for the Women's Water Polo team with 22 points in September. She is currently 9th in the highly competitive South Coast Conference and was named 1st team in her freshman season. Banuelos is a multi-sport student-athlete. competing on the conference championship Chaffey Softball team as well.
5/1/22	Marissa Marquez Softball freshman	Marissa Marquez (Softball) Marisa has worked hard to recover from a shoulder injury and now leads the team in hitting at .481 and has 14 RBI's and has scored 14 runs along with 5 doubles and three home runs in her last 17 games. The freshman shortstop is a team leader on and off the field, carrying a 3.7 GPA.
4/1/22	Jaylynn Rodriguez Swim freshman	Jaylynn Rodriguez has had a strong start to the competitive season dominating the butterfly at regional and conference meets. Only halway through her freshman season, Rodriguez has already entered the Top 10 list for the 50, 100, and 200 events. She has had first place finishes at all SCC events this season and a 3rd place finish at the Mt SAC Invitational.
3/1/22	Violet Salazar Softball freshman	Violet Salazar competed for Panther Softball on the 2020 team whose season was cut short due to the COVID lockdown. She returned to Panther Field this season resuming her command of the mound and plate. She is 5-2 as a pitcher with 3.63 ERA, and 29 strikeouts in 34 innings. At the plate, she is .396 with 17 extra-base hits, 18 RBI and 22 runs scored.
2/1/22	Elyanna Rios Women's Basketball sophomore	Elyanna Rios is a two-season sophomore for the Panthers. Rios came to Chaffey from Chaffey High School. She has consistently lead the Panthers throughout her career. In January's IEAC play, Rios had a double-double (20 points, 10 assists, 6 rebs) against Palo Verde going 5:10 from the 3-pt line. Then she went for 23 points against Mt. San Jacinto - 100% from the FT line, 5:10 again from the 3-pt line, and she added 3 assists and 2 steals. "She has really stepped up her game and not just offensively, she's been defending very well too."
12/1/21	Kaylen Gonzalez Women's Soccer sophomore	Sophomore forward/defender Kaylen Gonzalez led the Panthers to their third consecutive conference title and into CCCAA playoffs. She was named IEAC Player of the Year, scoring 18 goals in 15 games. She was recently named an All-SoCA, All-State, and All-American honoree.
11/1/21	Clarissa Banuelos Women's Water Polo freshman	Freshman attacker Clarissa Banuelos led the Panthers this season scoring 69 goals and 8 assists this season. She finished the regular season ranked 3rd in the South Coast Conference - scoring (in one of the most competitive aquatics conferences in the state).
10/1/21	Kayla Bergin Women's Soccer freshman	Kayla Bergin comes to Chaffey from Granite Hills High School in the high desert. Bergin has started every game for the Panthers this season and has been instrumental in the team's success to date. Bergin currently leads the IEAC in scoring and is ranked #4 in the state.
9/1/21	Brianna King Women's Cross Country freshman	Brianna King comes to Chaffey from Ayala High School. In her first collegiate race, August 27th at Moorpark, King finished 3rd overall with a time of 19:39.
3/3/20	Aria Massey Women's Swim sophomore	Aria Massey is a veteran water polo player but new to the sport of competitive swim. Playing both at Chino Hills HS and for the Panthers, Massey was recruited to play by former Head Coach Breck Weiny. When Head Coach Kayle Morris took over she spotted potential in Massey and convinced her to give lane swimming a try." "Aria came to me this season with no competitive swim background. Now after two meets she is competing in numerous different events, and dropping time each meet. She has shown a lot of dedication in learning all the technique and rules with swimming. She works hard each and everyday, and has the drive to just continue to get better. She has picked up competitive swimming quickly and will only keep improving this entire season," said Coach Morris. Massey, a Chaffey scholar-athlete, is a nursing major and hopes to transfer next year. When she's not in the pool she heads to the beach to bodyboard and spend time with family and friends.
2/1/20	Sydnee Torrence Women's Basketball sophomore forward	Sydnee Torrence is one of only two sophomores on this year's women's basketball team. As a veteran Panther, Torrence has been called upon to lead and mentor the freshman talent of the 19-20 team. "In the absence of two other post players, Syd has stepped up in conference play," commented Head Coach Tasha Burnett. "She has upped her points per game, rebounds per game, and assists per game. She has also been a defensive force for us in the paint. She has done all of this while having to play many more minutes with very limited sub opportunities." Torrence is a criminal justice major with a goal of becoming a probation officer. She chose Chaffey for what it had to offer her on the court and in the classroom. Torrence is a two time Chaffey College Scholar-Athlete honoree. "This team is a group of unique individuals," said Torrence. "Each person contributes something different to our success. Coach is very helpful and caring. She always makes herself available for us when we need her." Torrence is a product of Etiwanda High School where she played three years for the Eagles. Outside of school and basketball, Syd spends her time playing music, drawing and hanging out with her friends.
1/2/20	Harjinder Takher Women's Basketball freshman guard	Harjinder Takher joins the Panthers for her freshman season from Rancho Cucamonga High School. Jinder has been a standout for the Chaffey squad, amassing over 100 points in December and averaging 15.4 points/game, with 8 double-doubles in the first two months of the season. "Jinder plays an aggressive game, attacking the basket and is a top rebounder for us," commented Head Coach Tasha Burnett. Takher is in the top five scorers in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference as the Panthers officially open the conference season later today. Jinder is pursuing a psychology major at Chaffey. "I took psych in high school and really enjoyed it." Takher played basketball at RCHS all four years.
12/1/19	Karla Garcia-Limon Women's Soccer sophomore midfield/forward	Karla Garcia-Limon is a two-time all-conference athlete that has led the Panthers to back-to-back conference championships and state playoff appearances. This year, Karla has also served as the team captain of the 17-3-2 Chaffey squad. Karla ends her sophomore season at Chaffey as the conference assist leader (15), ranked #3 in the state. After the Panthers' recent defeat of San Bernardino Valley, Karla couldn't stop smiling. "It felt so good to beat Valley on our home field. It's what they did to us in playoffs last year." That win secured a 2019 playoff bid for the Chaffey team. Advancing to round 2 of playoffs after defeating Santa Monica (11/23/19) was Karla's best memory of the season. Karla is a kinesiology major at Chaffey but hopes to transfer to Cal State LA to pursue a degree in communication studies and continue her athletic career. When she's not busy playing soccer, studying or catching up on sleeping and eating, her favorite destination is Disneyland. Coach Grace:"Karla is a great reflection of the type of student-athlete we look for. She is a successful student and a phenomenal soccer player. She is our captain and leads by example on and off the field. She is one of the hardest working girls on this team. She has an amazing attitude and brings fun and laughter to our team!"
11/1/19	Kendall Mency Volleyball sophomore outside hitter	Kendall Mency has led the IEAC leading Panthers all season. Kendall has racked up 226 kills this season and has been instrumental in the Panthers’ eleven 3-0 sweep games. Kendall earned her 500^th career kill September 28^th against Santa Barbara. She is ranked #10 in the STATE for kills/set (3.90) and is likely to hit 700 by the end of the 2019 season Kendall is a driving force on the Chaffey team and is a leader on and off the court. Kendall is already being scouted by four-year colleges and hopes to continue playing volleyball at the next level while pursuing a degree in kinesiology and preparing for a career in physical therapy. Kendall is a graduate of Chino Hills High School where she lettered in volleyball three years. She was also a member of four club teams. She chose Chaffey for its coaching staff, welcoming environment, family atmosphere, and location. “Kendall is an extremely competitive student-athlete. She’s a hard-working student, a 2019 scholar-athlete, and a leader within the volleyball program. We look forward to seeing her thrive at the four-year level.” Head Coach Brianna Gonzales-Harwell
10/1/19	Audrie Torres Women's Cross Country freshman	"Throw me to the wolves and I'll come back leading the pack." Freshman Audrie Torres has done just that in the Panthers' first two meets of the 2019 season. Torres comes to Chaffey from Etiwanda High School where she ran for the Eagles all four years. In her collegiate debut (9/13 at the SoCA Preview San Diego), Audrie put up a respectable 21:12 finish, crossing the line 24th. The following week, Torres finished the Golden West Invite in 13th place improving her time to 20:54. The Panther women are now ranked #14 in Southern California. Audrie is an English major.
12/10/18	Gytonne Everett Women's Basketball sophomore guard	Gytonne Everett returns to the Panthers after a 3-year hiatus having played for Chaffey in 2015-16. In the recent Panther Pride tournament, Everett scored 42 points across the 3-game series. She is averaging over 13 points per game, starting in the first 8 games this season.
11/26/18	Taylor Windham Women's Soccer sophomore defense	Sophomore returner Taylor Windham led the Panthers to another successful season with three goals and seven assists. Windham played in all 21 games for Chaffey this season including post-season contests against Cypress and San Bernardino Valley.
11/19/18	Lindsey Hennon Women's Soccer sophomore midfield	Hennon's contributions to the Panther squad this season earned Chaffey the SCC North championship with an undefeated conference record.
11/13/18	Ivy Vollaire Women's Soccer freshman defense	Vollaire's back-to-back goal scoring games (11/6 Mt SAC and 11/9 Rio Hondo) led the Panthers to the 2018 SCC North Championship. Against Mt SAC Vollaire had the sole game goal. Against Rio Hondo, she had 1 + 1 assist.
11/5/18	Svetlana Martin Women's Cross Country freshman	Freshman Svetalna Martin edged past teammate Elena Estrada for the first time this season posting an 18:57, 24th place finish at Friday's SoCA Regional. The duo propelled the Panthers to an 8th place finish overall. The team travels to Fresno 11/17 for state championships.
10/29/18	Jazel Perez Volleyball sophomore outside hitter	Jazel Perez continues to light up the court for the Panthers helping Chaffey to recent conference wins over Rio Hondo, Mt SAC and LA Trade Tech. The sophomore managed an impressive 16 digs and 8 kills against Long Beach last week.
10/22/18	Isabelle Suter Women's Water Polo freshman center/defender	With 39 goals, Suter claims the second slot on this season's high scorers. The freshman defender also managed 38 steals, 2nd only to sophomore Dominque Bowden.
10/15/18	Angel Rodriguez Women's Soccer freshman forward	In the first 11 games of the season, freshman forward Angel Rodriguez has scored five goals including two against rival Rio Hondo 10/9 in the Panthers' 2-0 shutout of the Roadrunners.
10/8/18	Dominique Bowden Women's Water Polo sophomore utility	With 12 goals and 13 steals in six games, sophomore Dominique Bowden leads the Panthers so far this season.
10/1/18	Makenna Gonzales Spirit freshman	Makenna Gonzales joins the Spirit Team with an extensive dance background in a variety of genres. She recently founded her own dance company featuring dancers of all ages. Makenna is a great team leader. She brings experience, technique and a great energy to our team.
9/24/18	Elena Estrada Women's Cross Country freshman	Freshman Elena Estrada has set herself apart from the pack posting two impressive races to begin her collegiate career: 12th place at the SoCA Preview and 3rd place at the Golden West Invitational.
9/17/18	Cecilia White Volleyball freshman setter	Freshman Cecilia White has been a force on the court for the Panthers since the season started and is leading the conference in assists/set and digs/set. The freshman setter hit a season high 15 digs on 9/7 against Saddleback.
9/11/18	Brittany Harren Womens' Water Polo sophomore center	Sophomore returner Brittany Harren lead the Panthers in their conference opening win against East LA with 4 goals and 2 assists. Her shooting percentage hit 80% in the match and she's averaging over 73% accuracy as the season gets underway.
9/4/18	Kendall Mency Volleyball freshman outside hitter	Kendall Mency (Chino Hills HS) lead the Panthers in their opening game against Santiago Canyon with 12 kills and 4 digs in three games against the visiting Hawks.
