UPDATE ON LATE SPRING COMPETITION
Due to the continued local COVID-19 situation, the Chaffey College Executive Leadership Team has made the decision to opt out of the second half of spring competition (baseball, softball, men’s and women’s swim/dive). “I realize this news is disappointing, and I completely understand those feelings,” said Dr. Timi Brown, Athletic Director, “please keep in mind that our priority will always be the health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, and support staff.” This follows on the college’s decision not to participate in early spring competition.
With the increasing availability of vaccines, we are hopeful that transmission rates will decrease and our student-athletes and coaches will be able to return to practice and competition for the fall season. “It is disappointing for us all that the entire 2020-21 season was lost, but we are looking to the future and preparing to return strong,” commented Dr. Brown. During this time, our coaches and athletic trainers have maintained contact with our student-athletes, we’ve been recruiting, and our academic counselor has been assisting students reach their academic goals for transfer. “We’ve been using this time wisely; providing the highest level of personal attention in a virtual environment.”
“We have seen, now more than ever, the resiliency and strength of our student-athletes,” said Dr. Brown. “Please reach out to your coaches and our staff and take advantage of the resources and services being offered by the college.” Chaffey College courses are currently being offered 100% online. Access to all student services including admissions, counseling, financial aid and health services is being offered virtually, including mental health assistance.
