athletic trainer (1969-1985)

Lloyd Hunter has been passionate about sports since childhood.  He competed in football, baseball, track, and basketball in both junior high as well as high school.  After graduating from Chaffey High School, Lloyd volunteered for Homer Thompson, the school's athletic trainer, tending to the needs of Chaffey High athletes.  Little de he know that Homer would become his mentor.  In 1966 Lloyd earned his first athletic training position at Upland High School.  Three years later he began a sixteen-year career at Chaffey College assisting student-athletes and coordinating equipment for men's and women's teams.  It was during his time at Chaffey College that Lloyd was given the opportunity to work with the Athletic Congress of the USA for Track & Field.  In 1978 he went to Russia with the US Track & Field Junior Team, followed by a trip to Helsiniki in 1983 with the USA Team for the World Championships.  Then in 1984 he earned a position as the Track & Field coordinator for sports medicine in the Los Angeles Olympic Games.  Lloyd retired in 2005 after 20 years as the athletic trainer at Citrus College.  Lloyd is married to Beverly, they have two children, Jennifer and Jeffrey, three granddaughters, and three great granddaughters.
