The Panthers opened their first Inland Empire Athletic Conference season this afternoon, shutting out College of the Desert 12-0.
The second inning started the charge for the Chaffey squad beginning with a single by Jairemy Pulido followed by a Jared Bujanda triple to score the first run for the Panthers. A balk then brought Bujanda across the plate followed shortly after by a Jeovanni Delgado single that brought in Jason DuMont to close out the inning 4-0.
The Panthers scored two more in the 4th with Bujanda and DuMont scoring again. In the 5th, the Chaffey team looked like they could not be stopped scoring six runs and putting the game clearly out of reach for the Roadrunners.
Daniel Jaime got his first win for the season going 8 innings, giving up 7 hits against 34 batters. Bryce Powell made his collegiate debut to close out the game for Chaffey.
The Panthers continue conference play Thursday at San Bernardino and then travel to Santa Barbara for games Friday and Saturday.
