The Panthers and San Bernardino faced off for the first of three conference games today, a rivalry that goes back for decades, long before the establishment of the IEAC. The Panthers put the first run up on the board when Jared Bujanda had a 4th inning sac fly to drive in Daniel Mendez who reached first when he was hit by a pitch as the first batter of the inning. That would be Chaffey's only run of the game.
The Chaffey defense held the Wolverines scoreless until the 7th when an SBVC homer suddenly rocketed San Bernardino into the lead 3-1. A final run in the 8th closed the score out at 4-1.
Josh Sandoval started out on the mound for Chaffey followed my Matthew Flores (who took the loss), Johan Castillo and Tyler Tilton.
The men continue their road series traveling to Santa Barbara for a two-day series tomorrow.
