PANTHERS GO 0-2 AGAINST FULLERTON
The Panthers faced off against Fullerton College twice this week. The first game (2/11) was called early due to darkness and was completed today prior to the regularly scheduled game.
Prior to the shortened game, the Panthers were trailing 15-11 in the 8th. The Hornets had 11 runs by the bottom of the 2nd while Chaffey remained scoreless. Going into the 6th, Chaffey trailed 13-3 when Jared Bujanda singled through the right side bringing in Zach Kim. Right after, Cole Howarth singled to center field advancing Tyvon Moore to score. After a Fullerton pitching change, Bradley Chesterton doubled to left field; Jared Bujanda and Troy Holland scored shortening the gap to 13-7. In the 7th, Chaffey scored an additional four runs with Holland, Kim, Moore, and Javier Mendez crossing home - score to 15-11 with the game completion postponed until the 15th. No runs were scored by either team in the final inning.
Chaffey rotated through six pitchers in game 1 with Brynden Rodriguez suffering the loss giving up five runs as the starting pitcher.
In today's regularly scheduled game, the Panthers scored in the first off a Cole Howarth double that brought in Jared Bujanda. Bujanda reached on a double and then advanced on a sac fly by Bradley Chesterton. Fullerton scored six in the 2nd. In the 5th, with two outs, Cole Howarth hit a triple to center/right. Immediately after Matthew Chavez singled to centerfield driving in Howarth for Chaffey's 2nd run of the game. The team was unable to score again. Final score 9-2.
Six pitchers were on the plate in game 2 today. Thomas Cerecedes took the loss (his first this season) giving up 8 hits and 6 runs in the first two innings.
The Panthers are at Irvine Valley tomorrow.
