Panther Baseball took on Irvine Valley again today, avenging last week's loss to the Lasers with a 3-1 road win.
Chaffey was on the board with a 3rd inning Tyvon Moore single driving in Emilio Garcia. The score stayed at 1-0 until the top of the 8th when Garcia again crossed the plate off a Jared Bujanda single taking the Panthers to a 2-0 lead into the 9th when another solo run Bradley Chesterton took the scoreboard to 3-0.
It looked like the game would be a shutout for the Panthers but a ninth inning charge of the Lasers resulted in one run.
Thomas Cerecedes earned his second win of the season pitching the first eight with 6 hits. Ricky Rodarte picked up the save relieving for the ninth.
"Tommy took the mound today with a lot of confidence and it only grew as the game went on," commented Head Coach Andy Smith. "He embodied everything we talk about as a team today."
The Panthers are at Glendale tomorrow and then open the conference season Saturday against Mt San Jacinto. Saturday's game will be played at Claremont High School.
