The Panthers claimed their third conference win Saturday defeating Victor Valley 25-2. "We played to the level of our standards today in all phases and were rewarded with a great result," said Head Coach Andy Smith.
Brynden Rodriguez started off the game for the Panthers, going five to earn the game win. Rodriguez gave up 3 hits, 4 walks, and 2 runs. He was relieved by Brandon Wedge, Adam Aguirre, and Anthony Barrera to complete the rotation. Smith commented, "Brynden Rodriguez keeps getting better with each outing after a slower start to the year." It was his third win this season.
Panther bats came out strong taking a first inning lead and never relenting. "Pitcher Braden Hofmeyer (in rightfield for the game) coming up and hitting a grandslam in the 8th was a special moment that we all will remember for a long time!" In all the Panthers had three homers in the nine-inning contest including two solo RBIs by Jared Bujanda and Zach Kim.
The Panthers have a conference three-game series with Mt San Jacinto this week.
