Head Coach Andy Smith commented, "Credit to their starter for throwing a good breaking ball for strikes all game and keeping our hitters off balanced. We didn't play or coach well enough to win this one."
Game 2 gave the Panthers a final opportunity to redeem the day. The 8-3 win was a nice way to close out the afternoon.
Back-to-back homers by Bujanda and Troy Holland in the first set the tone for the followup contest. A 3 RBI homer by Mendez in the 4th and a 2 RBI homer in the 5th by Holland made for an exciting game. Andrew Cordero finaled out the board with a single RBI in the 6th. In all the Panthers managed a total of 20 hits and 5 homeruns for the day.
"It was good to see all 3 of our lefties leave the yard today, especially Javie getting his first one of the year. Hard to overlook the performance of Brandon Wedge on the mound in relief. He ran his fastball up to 92 today and threw a ton of strikes."
Repping the bullpen in game 2: Ricky Rodarte, Brandon Wedge, and James Cantarero.
The Panthers completed the 2022 season against Barstow Saturday.
