The Panthers are back in the winning way after a 9-4 home win against East LA yesterday.
The Huskies took a first inning two run lead but a 6th inning push by Chaffey gave the Panthers the needed movement to take a lead the Huskies could not overcome. With two outs and back at the top of the lineup, Zach Kim, Jacob Billings, and Matthew Chavez knocked solid singles to load the bases for cleanup hitter Damian Hernandez who did what was needed with a three RBI double to leftfield. Steven Mara then managed a double to rightfield to bring Hernandez home. Two batters later, Clay Porter had a triple up the middle bringing two more runners across the plate and finishing off the inning wiht the Panthers up 6-3.
A two RBI homer by Matthew Chavez in the 7th and a sac fly by Aaron Whobrey in the 8th furthered the lead to 9-3. The Huskies managed one in the 9th with 2 outs off a Joshua Ver Kullen balk but Ver Kullen held out to strike out the final batter and close out the win for Chaffey.
The Panthers host San Diego City today.
