PANTHERS ANNOUNCE SPRING 17 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
Last season was a complete aberration for the Panthers, as the team posted an abysmal 3-7 overall record. Injuries, specifically season-ending injuries was the theme last season: Linebacker Preston Carr went down in game one with a season-ending ACL tear, starting quarterback Jordan Velarde's sophomore season was cut short with a knee injury in the first game, as well, and backup quarterback Aaron Crone's season was abruptly halted during week four of the season against Grossmont College with a broken ankle.
On a brighter note, the Panthers finish 2016 with six all-conference selections, three of which were 1st-team: RB, Jamal Scott, OL, Kordell Brewster, and PR Tamas Stewart. The team also signed eleven players to four-year schools off of last season's team. Three of the five starting offensive linemen signed to division-I schools (Louisville, Louisiana-Lafayette, and Stephen F. Austin).
The aforementioned players whom were lost to season-ending injuries are returning and looking to get the Panthers back to its winning ways. The high-powered offensive attacked has retooled, and the defense is eager to make opposing offenses very uncomfortable in 2017.
The Panthers will hold fifteen spring practices, beginning April 11th - May 4th. All practices will be monday through thursday (with the exception of the first week) from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, located at the team's practice field which is adjacent to the baseball diamond.
Fans and recruits are encouraged to come out frequently to get an early look at the 2017 Panthers.
