PANTHERS GET THIRD CONSECUTIVE WIN; 36-7 AT PCC
The red-hot Panthers left Pasadena in their wake Saturday night, defeating the Lancers 36-7. Chaffey's defense, one of the best in the state, held the Lancers to an average of 3 yards per rush and accomplished six sacks. Quarterback EJ Stewart put everyone on notice and was a beacon of productivity last week, completing 16 passes on 24 attempts, totaling 321 yards and 3 touchdowns, in relief for injured freshman quarterback Caleb Arreola. The receiving corps had its coming-out party last week, as both Isiah Jarrett-Bolding and Shawn Arrington accounted for 4 catches and 1 touchdown a piece, and the sure-handed Javian Lofton-Wilson, not to be outdone, added 2 catches and a 35-yard touchdown reception. The Panther defense gave up an early touchdown in the first quarter, which tied the game vs. PCC. The Panthers then rattled off 29 unanswered points. The Panthers defensively have been impressive and have been dominating on that side of the ball. Sophomore linebacker Andrew Rodriguez nearly defended every blade of turf on the field, pestering the Lancers offense and accounting for 13 tackles (6 solo) and 3 sacks. Sophomore free safety Dorian Fredrick contributed with one interception, which was returned for 52 yards, and 5 total tackles.
The men host Compton Saturday night to open the 2018 American Metro race. Compton is 0-4.
