FOOTBALL OPENS SEASON WITH WIN AT HARBOR
The Panthers claimed the longest winning streak in the state with their season opening win at Harbor Saturday. The men dominated the Seahawks from the start with a short Greg Jordan rush to the endzone and a Nick Lawson field goal. Returning wide receiver Javian Lofton-Wilson caught a 53 yard pass by Caleb Arreola taking the Panthers to a 17-13 1st period lead. Another Greg Jordan TD and two additional Lawson field goals closed the half at 30-13. Jamal Moorefield scored the only points for either team in the 3rd with a rush from inside the red zone. In the final fifteen, Sophomore Caleb Arreola went to Jeff Ward with a 37 yard pass. Chaffey took the 17 point win from the Seahawks to open the 2019 season on the road.
Lawson, a 2018 all-conference kicker, had a perfect game with 3/3 field goals and 5/5 PATs. Arreola, also a member of the 2018 honor team, had the 2nd best performance in the state with 453 yards passed.
