PANTHERS REMAIN UNDEFEATED WITH 31-21 HOME WIN
Rain could not dampen Panther Football tonight as the Chaffey squad took down Pasadena City College 31-21 to remain undefeated on the 2023 season.
The Annual Tailgate game kicked off with an early touchdown by Pasadena but Dereun Dortch could not be stopped. Quickly, the teams were tied 7-7, then 14-14 until a 4th quarter press by the Panthers resulted in 17 points on the board putting the game squarely out of Pasadena's reach.
"I'm proud of the way our team competed today," commented Head Coach Darrin Chiaverini. "To build this roster and staff in such a short time and see the way we battled back against a very good Pasadena team and were able to play Chaffey Football when it mattered the most is a testament to our players and staff."
Dortch threw for 273 yards including a 44-yard bomb early in the final quarter. Jayson Cortes had another stellar game with 106 yards rushing.
Anthony Hagan was 4:4 on extra points and scored a 4th quarter 31-yard fieldgoal.
"To get this win against a ranked opponent and get to 5-0 going into the bye allows us to get healthy and continue to work and develop our players and program."
The Panthers are on break next week (conference bye week) and will return to Grigsby October 14th to take on West LA in the 2023 conference opener.
