PANTHERS REMAIN UNDEFEATED WITH HUGE CONFERENCE OPENER WIN
The Panther gridiron continues to improve and impress, defeating West LA tonight in a 62-0 stunner to open the American Metro conference season.
Scoring started moments into the game and the Panther offense could not be stopped. Even with a shortened fourth quarter, the Panthers amassed nine TDs and a fieldgoal by the final horn. Dereun Dortch threw for 238 yards against West LA and scored four touchdowns. Jayson Cortes continued his impressive season with 154 yards and three TDs. William Davis had 142 yards receiving for the night and two catches in the endzone.
With few opportunities to defend, Syrano Ware led the Panthers with six tackles.
Tonight's conference opener marks the first time this season that the Panthers have held an opponent scoreless.
"I'm excited by the way our team responded coming off a big win and having a bye week. As a coach you are concerned with having a let down. That didn't happen tonight. Our team played at a very high level and I awarded a game ball to our Defensive Coordinator / Staff and the defense. Was also very impressed with the way the offense operated tonight. Our QB made the tough throws and was very accurate on the deep ball! The receivers were explosive and the offensive line did a great job." - Head Coach, Darrin Chiaverini
Chaffey has four conference games remaining on the season starting with College of the Desert next Saturday. The away game kicks off at 1pm. Chaffey does not return home to Grigsby until November 4th when they will take on Santa Ana College.
