The men hosted the 3rd Annual Chaffey Challenge Tournament with visiting teams from Citrus, Desert, and Canyons in attendance. The Panthers defeated College of the Desert 78-68 with a tremendous 2nd half, outscoring the Roadrunners by nine points. Andy (Andres) Torices led the team with 15 points, 4 steals and 2 rebounds and was 100% from the line. Anthony (Arthur) Garcia added 14 points, 2 steals, and 4 rebounds to secure the win for the Chaffey squad.
Coach Klein: "The Chaffey Hustlin' Panthers are on a roll. We have just won our 7th consecutive game and looking forward to our rematch with Citrus College. Our team has improved in all facets of the game, The areas of rebounding, free throw shooting and limiting turnovers have changed the fortunes of our season."
On day 2 of the tournament, the Panthers again faced off against the Citrus Owls (rematch from the Citrus Tournament 11/17/18). The Owls took a first half lead up 37-33 at the break. After a back-and-forth 2nd half battle, the Panthers fell by 4 to Citrus 85-81. Kehasson (Manou) Oulai lead the Panthers with the game's only double-double, 22 points and 15 rebounds. He also managed 3 steals and 2 blocks to keep the Panthers in the game for both periods of play. The men are on break until the new year, returning to the Sports Center to take on Long Beach January 4th.
