The men were on fire tonight taking the lead against Cerro Coso 2 1/2 minutes into and not letting up. The Coyotes were first on the board with a series of shots but a quick timeout to regroup by the Panthers was all the Chaffey squad needed. By the half, the Panthers were up by 12 eventually expanding the lead to 17 for the 89-72 win.
Sophomore Darren Williams pulled off 25 points against the Coyote defense, 11:12 from the line, to lead the Panthers tonight. Fellow returner Aaron Johnson dominated both offense and defense with 19 rebounds and 18 points. Manu Oulai added 21 points, freshman Donyae Molett 13. Overall, the Panthers had 84.2% accuracy from the freethrow line.
"It was a good win in conference, a good team effort," said Darren Williams. "Everyone really contributed."
The Panthers continue their home stand Saturday against Mt San Jacinto at 3pm. The Eagles, along with Chaffey and Desert, make up the only remaining undefeated teams in the IEAC race.
