PANTHER BASKETBALL ONE STEP CLOSER TO IEAC CHAMPIONSHIP
The Panthers put themselves one step closer to the IEAC Championship trophy with a 77-65 win last night at San Bernardino. The win, the team's eleventh consecutive, puts the Panthers three games ahead of Mt San Jacinto as the teams play their final six games of the regular season.
Last night, Darren Williams - who is averaging 17 points per game - stunned with 25 points, his eighth game this season at 20+.
"This was a typical tough battle against our local rival," commented Head Coach Jeff Klein. "Being undefeated in conference, we had a bullseye on our back and SBVC gave us their best shot. Our guys responded to all the adversity and in the end came out on top. We played a tremendous defense in the final five minutes and made 3 big-time three point attempts, which gave us the victory. We've shown amazing resiliency and toughness this season. Our guys have played Hard, stay together and trust our coaching. I'm proud of them."
Chaffey has played their last four games on the road and return home Saturday to take on Copper Mountain at 3pm. Saturday's game is also the college's 7th Annual Coaches vs Cancer game honoring the American Cancer Society.
