The men traveled to Fullerton over the weekend for the Annual Fullerton Classic, taking on West LA, Citrus, and Fullerton College.
On day one of the tournament, Chaffey defeated West LA 82-78. The team was led by Jonathan Neal who had a career high 26 points against the Wildcats. Miguel Robles, Isaiah Barcelo, and Jozelle Carter were all in double digits.
Day two brought a tough back-and-forth matchup with the Citrus Owls. At the half, the teams were separated by only one point and that would foretell the eventual outcome with the Panthers up 83-82 at the horn. Neal and Barcelo each had 19 points. Brody Davis added 16 in the win.
For the final game of the tournament, Chaffey faced off against host Fullerton. Despite leading by three at the break, the Hornets pulled out a 64-58 win. Robles, Davis, Carter, and Barcelo combined to account for 43 of Chaffey's 58 points scored.
The Panthers return home Wednesday night to take on Victor Valley College in the Inland Empire Conference opener. Tipoff 7pm.
