Brandon Averitt begins his second year as an assistant coach for the Chaffey men’s basketball program.  His responsibilities include recruiting, scouting, and player development. 

In his first season with the team, Averitt helped the Panthers achieve a 25-4 record, an Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) championship, the highest scoring average among all 3C2A teams (101.4 points per game), and a new single-game scoring record for the college (153 points). He coached several standout athletes, including IEAC MVP and All-State Team member Marcus Green, First Team honorees Brody Davis and Uriyah Rojas, and Second Team members Nate Simon and Shaden Knight.

Averitt brings valuable experience from his collegiate playing career. As a member of the Men’s Basketball team at the University of Texas-El Paso (UTEP), he played under notable coaches like former USC and Chicago Bulls head coach Tim Floyd and current Texas head coach Rodney Terry. He finished his playing career at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Canton, where he was a key contributor to the 2020 North Atlantic Conference Championship team and participated in the 2020 NCAA National Tournament. A career 40% three-point shooter, Averitt recorded personal bests of 21 points and seven three-pointers in a single game. During his time at both UTEP and SUNY Canton, he served as the Men’s Basketball representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Averitt's basketball experience also includes international competition. As head coach of Team USA in the 2024 United World Games, he led the team to an undefeated record and a gold medal. As a player, he represented Team USA in the 2019 Maccabi Pan-American Games in Mexico City, helping the team achieve an undefeated gold medal run against Argentina, Australia, Guatemala, and Mexico. He also played for Team USA in the 2016 United World Games in Austria, where the team earned a bronze medal.

A Monrovia native, Averitt graduated Summa Cum Laude from SUNY Canton in 2023 with a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management. In high school, he averaged over 20 points per game at Tarbut V’Torah, earning Express League MVP and CIF Southern Section Second Team honors.
