Mateu Vilakazi returns for his second year as an assistant coach for the Chaffey men’s basketball program, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to developing student-athletes on and off the court. Building on last year's success, Coach Vilakazi is motivated to elevate the program to new heights and help Chaffey College capture its first-ever State Championship.  

Vilakazi was a member of the 2016 Chaffey Men’s Basketball State Final Four team. Prior to his playing career at Chaffey, Mateu played basketball locally at Rancho Cucamonga High School where he was a 2 time all baseline league player. After finishing out 2 successful seasons at Chaffey College, Mateu went on to attend the University of Southern California on an academic scholarship and Graduated with a degree in Economics.

Mateu also received his Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Miami and values education for Student-Athletes. Vilakazi always stayed close to basketball; starting and coaching his own AAU Basketball Program in the Inland Empire as well as working for a Sports Agency for the last 6 years. Mateu will bring his love for the game, wide skill set and experience to the Panther Basketball program as they look to have a successful season this year.
