The Santa Monica Corsairs came calling Friday afternoon, taking home a 3-1 loss courtesy of the Panther squad. Chaffey lead at the half 3-0 with goals by Marco Rodriguez, Christian Verdugo and Daniel Alvarado. Alvarado's unassisted shot came as the teams closed out the first half of play. Rylan Opatkiewicz gave up only one goal in the entire game - a 2nd period shot by Santa Monica's Hector Bustamante. Opatkiewicz had six saves.
"It felt good to be back at home for the first time in a couple of week," said Coach Cooper. "We were ON for the first 45 minutes, we defended well, we got forward, and we possessed the ball with a purpose. We weren't nearly as sharp in the 2nd half, but were able to weather Santa Monica's attack and win the game 3-1."
The Panthers are on the road tomorrow at LA Mission College and return home Friday to take on College of the Canyons at 4pm.
