Panther Men's Soccer concluded the 2019 season Saturday at Golden West falling to the Rustlers 2-1 in round 1 of CCCAA playoffs. The Rustlers were first on the board with a goal 21 minutes into play taking the teams into the break with GWC up 1-0. Panthers midfielder Miguel Correa got one past GWC (assisted by Ivan Diaz) 13 minutes into the 2nd half to tie the game 1-1. The Rustlers were able to put one more in the net 20 minutes later. Despite a strong charge, Chaffey was unable to score again giving Golden West the playoff win.
Coach Cooper: It's never easy playing on the road in playoffs, but I was happy with the way we played at Golden West. We defended well, stuck to our game plan and created some great goal scoring opportunities. While I'm disappointed with the playoff loss, overall, we had a very successful season with an extremely young team. We had some great results early in the season, battled injuries throughout conference, but still made playoffs. I'm already looking forward to the 2020 season... with a bunch of returners and potentially some great local recruits.
The Panthers finish the season 12-6-4.
