The Panthers were on the road again yesterday taking on longtime rival Antelope Valley. Chaffey came up short with a 2-1 loss. "We started off flat and our opponent was very aggressive going forward and applying pressure," said Head Coach Chris Araya. "Unfortunately we made a couple of big mistakes that led to their 2-0 lead going into the break."
"After a poor first half, our team was able to bounce back and score within a minute into the second period." Andres Ponce (freshman, Summit HS) got his first collegiate goal 1:03 into the 2nd half. "We dealt with a few adversities but still worked hard and created enough to at least tie the game."
The Chaffey squad was unable to get another past AVC. "After a few really good chances at the end of the game, we weren't able to come back. This is a big lesson for our players and will help us mature as a team as try to build off of our second half's performance."
Newcomer Rafael Lopez-Sanchez (Etiwanda HS) had four saves.
The Panthers play at Citrus Friday.
