The Chaffey College Panthers men's soccer team secured their first win of the season with an impressive 3-1 victory over the Antelope Valley College Marauders (Lancaster, CA). This win helps level their overall tally after a challenging start to the season.
The Panthers dominated the first half and scored all three of their goals within the first 22 minutes of play. Benny Cazares opened the scoring just 16 seconds into the match and capitalized on a quick team effort. Diego Garcia and David Navarro each found the back of the net in the 22nd minute. All three Forwards recorded their first goals of the season. The Panthers were able to set a fast pace and demonstrated strong offensive play that the Marauders struggled to match, with 10 total shots and 7 on target.
The Panthers defense held firm for the remainder of the game. Goalkeeper David Ayala made two critical saves and allowed only one goal.
The team's next challenge will be on the road against Santa Barbara City College on Friday, August 30.
