The Panthers opened the home season today in grand fashion defeating the LA Valley Monarchs 12-2. The Panthers, lead by sophomore pitcher Violet Salazar, held the Monarchs in the first and then went through the lineup scoring nine runs to close out the inning. Salazar, along with Lexi Alaniz-Diaz and Lorissa Avila scored two runs each. In all, nine Panthers crossed the plate in the day's victory. Salazar earns her 2nd win of the season and was relieved by Celeste Paniagua who went 2 innings to close out the game.
The Panthers are on the road for the next two contests (Rio Hondo and Saddleback) and return home to Panther Field Wednesday, February 9th to take on Palomar.
