SOFTBALL EXTENDS STREAK TO SEVEN
Team Stats
The Panthers took on LA Harbor Saturday, defeating the Seahawks 11-2 and 9-2.
In game 1, "Lexi Alaniz-Diaz stepped in for an injured Marisa Marquez at shortstop and had a great game, going 2-3 at the plate, scored a run and added a pair of RBI's," according to Head Coach Jerry Tivey. Cora Garcia went 3-4 with 2 runs and an RBI. "It was nice to see both Lexi and Cora get their bats going. They've each struggled a bit lately and it seems as if our hitting depth is starting to show up every game, which we're going to need."
Cora Garcia again went 3-4 in game 2, this time from the leadoff position and added a run with 2 RBI's. "Clarissa Banuelos played outstanding defense and went 2-4 at the plate, scoring three runs and knocking in a pair with a triple. Ginger Duncan came off the bench to spark the offense, going 2-2 with a triple and a run scored."
The Panthers are at Cerritos tomorrow and then resume IEAC play Friday at San Bernardino Valley.
Alyah Rueff stole her 24th base of the season, setting a new single-season record for Chaffey.
"We turned a pair of double plays defensively today and it was good to see us play smart, even while we've had to move some people around."
"Ginger gave us a spark off the bench and that's such a positive, knowing that we can turn to someone who isn't getting regular at-bats and they are still ready to step into the game."
