The Panthers opened the conference season tonight with a rematch home game against San Bernardino Valley, defeating the Wolverines 69-49 and outscoring SBVC in three periods of play. San Bernardino defeated the Panthers on December 18th in a pre-conference season game played to replace the exit of Palo Verde from the IEAC schedule.
Despite a slow start to tonight's game by both teams, once the Panthers were on the board they did not stop - leading SBVC by 15 at the break.
The Panthers were led by freshman guard Harjinder Takher with 17 points including three 3-point shots. Brianna Medrano added a season/career high 12 points for the Chaffey squad. "This is a great way to start the conference season," Medrano commented. "It was a great team win, everyone did their part and played their role."
The Panthers are on the road Saturday at Copper Mountain and Wednesday at El Camino (non-conference) and will return to the Sports Center on January 11th to take on Mt San Jacinto.
