The Panthers came out strong from the gate taking an early and imposing 10 point lead. By midway through the first period though, Golden West had found their rhythm and they game volleyed back and forth until the final fourth quarter horn.
At the half, Chaffey was down by two and the teams seemed evenly matched. After the break, the Panthers outscored GWC 21-19 and the game was back to a tie (49 all). By the final minutes of the fourth quarter, the small Panther squad was showing their fatigue and Golden West managed to pull ahead, up by ten with 17 seconds on the clock. A series of shots and freethrows put the Panthers within range but ultimately time was not on their side. Final score 73-67.
Breonna Martinez and Grace Estrada dominated the boards for the Panthers, each contributing 24 points.
The Panthers are at the Modesto Crossover this weekend and will return to the Sports Center December 6th to take on Taft College.
