The Panthers traveled to Antelope Valley yesterday to open the 2022 season and brought home a 2-0 victory. The team scrimmaged with East LA last week.
Julia Galdamaz (freshman, Upland Christian) got her first collegiate goal with a shot 35 minutes into play. She led the freshmen with four shots overall. "Several of our freshman athletes played a big role in our success yesterday," said Head Coach Grace Cooper.
Sophomore standout Kayla Bergin, a 1st all-IEAC selection last year, scored early in the 2nd period taking Chaffey to 2-0. Returner Autumn Gomez held the Marauders at bay for the complete game giving the Panthers a season opening shutout win.
"Yesterdays game was a good test to see where we are currently and what we still can improve upon," Coach Cooper continued. "This group managed a very physical and fast paced game extremely well and we look forward to continuing to improve. We as a staff are excited for what they will bring to this squad."
The Panthers travel to Moorpark Friday afternoon and will play their first home game Wednesday, September 7th against College of the Canyons at 2pm.
