The Panthers started off strong yesterday, scoring against Long Beach just three minutes into play. Aliza Corona had a stellar day scoring both goals for the Panthers including one in the final minute of play.
"It was a battle yesterday between two undefeated programs," commented Grace Cooper. "The game seemed to go back and forth with momentum at different times for both teams."
Trailing by one as the seconds ticked down, the Panthers were able to snag an opportunity to score and Corona delivered to tie the game. "We were able to get a last minute goal to tie it up which proved our resilience and grit to never give up!"
The team opens Inland Empire Athletic Conference action Friday at home against College of the Desert. Chaffey is the defending IEAC champions having won conference titles the last three seasons.
"It's always exciting to start conference! There is history between all the teams and that's what conference play is all about. We have proven to be a top team in our area and hope to show that with a fourth conference championship."
