The Chaffey Panthers continue undefeated after a 4-0 shutout of Cerritos yesterday afternoon at home.
Against the Falcons, the Panthers were able to control the game from the starting whistle, dominating the ball and staying in Cerritos' zone for the majority of the game. Scoring one in the first half, Chelsea Bowen put the first goal on the board at the 25 minute mark. It was the sole goal of the initial period.
After the break, the Panthers continued to keep Cerritos on the defense knocking three into the net (Kayla Bergin, Alexa Guzman, and Kiana Felix).
Primarily an offensive game for Chaffey, goalkeepers Autumn Gomez and Marissa Betancourt saw little action but did manage three saves while keeping the Falcons scoreless.
"We are happy we were able to get the shutout yesterday and hope the momentum keeps going well into our conference play," said Head Coach Grace Cooper. "We have a big game Friday against Rio Hondo and hope to continue playing well and keeping our winning streak going!" The Panthers host Rio Hondo Friday at 2pm.
