The Panthers played an offensively aggressive game this afternoon against College of the Canyons but came up against a defensive wall that took until overtime to penetrate.
Chaffey kept the ball in scoring range for the majority of the regulation 90-minutes of play but were stopped at every attempt by the Cougars' keeper and defensive line. At the half, the teams were scoreless and as the final horn sounded the tie remained.
Five minutes into the first half of overtime, Chaffey scuttled the ball in to put the first goal of the game on the board. Minutes later a penalty kick gave the Panthers the edge and ultimately the game.
Chaffey will now advance to play the winner of the Mt SAC/Long Beach game on Saturday at 2pm at home. This will be the Panthers final home appearance as the winner of Saturday's game will next play at the state Final Four at American River College on December 2nd and 4th.
