2025 Season Preview: Men's and Women's Swim and Dive
The Chaffey College men's and women's swim and dive team is ready to make a splash in 2025. Head coach Kayle Hurst expects this team to not just set a new standard for the program, but also become the premier aquatics program in the region, which now includes having a dedicated facility.
The long-awaited aquatic center is in its final stage of completion and will be ready to usher in the new era of Panther aquatics. Part of the $700 million Measure P Bond Program, the full renovation includes two new single-story buildings totaling, 2,566 sq. ft., new 400-seat bleacher system with shade canopy, new perimiter landscapring, renovated pool and deck.
Despite not having any home field advantage, both teams competed well in the conference. There's an influx of new talent, including standout recruit Zixi Xu, is expected to energize the team and offset the loss of key swimmers from last year, including Julia Garcia, Kylie Garcia, Stella Godinho, and Diego Santos. Both Garcia and Santos were top competitors in the conference, with Santos being a conference finalist.
As Hurst continues to grow her aquatics program, her expectations for the team are high, stating, "We are hoping to move up within our conference and send a few of our athletes to the state meet." She believes that the team's potential will grow as they become more familiar with the new facility.
The team opens at the SCC Pentathlon on Friday, February 7 followed by the 3X Distance on Friday, February 14. On Friday, February 28th, Chaffey College will host Long Beach City College and East Los Angeles College at the inaugural event for the Panther Aquatic Center.
