The Panthers traveled to College of the Canyons yesterday, falling to the Cougars 7-5.
Chaffey scored to start off the game with a Hailey Marquez single to centerfield that brought Victoria Esparza across the plate. Canyons managed four runs in the first inning and did not give up the lead in 7 innings of play.
In the 3rd, Kristina Sandoval doubled leftfield, grabbing two RBIs off Marquez and Vivian Medinilla, and closing the gap to 4-3. Canyons again scored in the 3rd.
A 7th inning rally by Chaffey scored Delaney Barberoff a Sandoval single. Natalie Sanchez scored off a wildpitch but the Panthers ultimately came up short.
Brooklyn Fristrom pitched the complete game with eight hits and four strikeouts.
The team plays at home Monday vs San Diego City.
